Woodland Grove Denim for Dementia
Woodland Grove residents celebrate Dementia Awareness by hosting Remember Me Afternoon Tea and wearing Denim for Dementia
Our residents at Woodland Grove Care Home in Essex, put on their Sunday best and enjoyed a selection of afternoon tea treats to celebrate Dementia Awareness. Residents had fun reminiscing about similar past events as they tucked into some delicious scones with jam and clotted cream, as well as a wide variety of cakes and sweets.
One of our residents, Louisa Briggs recalled, “I went to the Ritz and it was a fantastic experience. I very much enjoyed tucking into a scone with jam and cream here too!”. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the event as they continued through the afternoon by having a singalong to some music hall classics.
Denim for Dementia
Our staff at Woodland Grove also raised money for Dementia UK by taking part in the nationwide project Denim for Dementia. Each member of staff wore an item of denim clothing and donated £1 or more to help raise funds for people living with Dementia in the UK.
Our Lifestyles Assistant at Woodland Grove, Elise Woolnough said, “I think that events like this create a sensorially rich environment to encourage reminiscing but also the opportunity to do something a little decadent and different from the day to day.”
