Meet the Wantage team
General ManagerI’ve worked in health and social care for over 20 years now, I started as a Care Assistant and quickly knew I was on the right career path. With 8 years management experience, I’ve previously been employed as an Assisted Living Manager, Deputy Manager, Area Manager and Registered Manager for multiple supported living sites. I’m passionate about providing the highest quality care, and enjoy this most when working with other dedicated team members, who are also motivated to improve the lives of others. When not at work I enjoy a variety of activities and can often be found enjoying some sort of sea or land-based adventure.
Deputy ManagerI’m a qualified General Nurse with over 13 years of experience in Nursing. Having worked in both acute/complex needs hospital wards and in Community Hospitals, I have been working in care home management for the past six years. Along with my Nursing degree, I hold a Level 5 diploma in Leadership for Health and Social care, and Children and Young People’s Services. I’m also a trained practice assessor/supervisor with the local university.. I have a passion for a high standard of care and supporting our staff team, and I’m committed to delivering care tailored to the individual needs and preference of each resident.
Head ChefI have worked at many local pubs and restaurants to Wantage, including The Boars Head Ardington and The Bear Hotel. I moved into contract catering at Rutherford Laboratories and worked in many outside catering locations including Blenheim Palace and Pinewood Studios. I started working in residential homes in 2009 at Richmond Villages Letcombe, near Wantage where I was Sous Chef. I moved on to Oakenholt Care Home near Oxford, where the tv series Waiting for God was filmed. I then moved to Chawley Grove Residential Nursing Home to open a brand-new kitchen, before I left and came to Elmbrook Court.
Head of Client and Resident ExperienceFollowing an extensive career in Customer Service, I have joined the Oakland Care Family at Elmbrook Court, to provide an exceptional experience for families and individuals looking for that little bit extra. I am passionate about providing exceptional care and promoting independence, laughter and stimulation to achieve wellbeing and happiness. I'm a dementia champion with the Alzheimer’s Society and have been actively involved with dementia events to provide support and information to local groups and relatives.
“My mother moved here the first week of opening, she was made to feel very welcome by everyone at Elmbrook Court. My mother has settled quickly into the home; she tells me the food is delicious. Her room has an ensuite and is spacious with plenty of storage. Her care is good, and the staff are friendly and approachable.”
“Wonderful, caring staff. Lovely, bright and well-equipped home. Very good food.”
“I had the potentially difficult job of finding a new home for my elderly Mum suffering from dementia and arranging the move. After a little searching, I discovered Elmbrook Court. Having now been there it is a lovely place – clean modern and spacious. From beginning to end the whole transition was most professionally and caringly managed. Within an hour Mum was chatting and smiling and drinking coffee and tucking into biscuits and a baked potato. Nothing seemed too much trouble.”
“Although mum was only at Elmbrook Court for a month the care she received was excellent. The ambience was warm and welcoming and her room was well laid out and a pleasant place in which to relax. The activities were engaging, particularly the choir which mum really loved.”
“A wonderful care home with friendly and caring staff who go the extra mile to provide excellent care. My grandparents have been living here since it opened and they are very happy. The food is excellent, and the care home provides many activities for the residents, and they even have their own cinema room. My Grandma said it was like being onboard a cruise ship! Highly recommended!”
“Thank you for looking after our friend. Everybody I met at Elmbrook Court bent over backward to make our friend’s stay perfect. From the first day I took our friend to view Elmbrook I was impressed by the professional but friendly service. On all of my visits, every member of staff made us so welcome and it was apparent that our friend was in a safe and caring environment. Hats off to you all.”
“Lovely ensuite rooms and modern, bright and welcoming public rooms. Very kind and caring staff and good choice of meals, well cooked and well presented. The home also has a cinema room, hairdressers and dedicated activities room and a wide range of activities are planned for enriching the lives of the residents.”
“All the staff at Elmbrook Court are so friendly, helpful and welcoming. It is always a pleasure to visit Mum, as we feel as supported by all the staff as she clearly is, and every visit is a happy experience. Mum is looking so well and always seems very relaxed and content. The quality of care and kindness from every member of staff is extraordinary, and I am delighted that Mum is so well looked after and so happy.”
“Dad simply couldn’t have better care than at Elmbrook Court. The facility is new and built to a very high standard. The rooms are beautifully furnished, and Dad has a patio with tables and chairs to enjoy the Autumn sun. The staff are outstanding, friendly, caring and considerate, and really good fun, which is sometimes missing in care facilities. We were worried that Dad wouldn’t settle after living alone for so long, but he has thrown himself into his new life – coffee morning, bell-ringing, cinema club. He looks healthy and happy.”
