Meet the Eastbourne team
Registered General ManagerI started my working journey in the hotel and restaurant industry. After 10 years I decided on a change and moved into the private care sector, where I have stayed for the last 20 years. During this time, I have worked in a variety of roles and most recently as Head of Hospitality. I have the belief that every single employee plays a huge role in the success of the home, so I feel that teamwork is a priority. My biggest accomplishment was leading a team to win the coveted National Association of Care Catering Award for Care Establishment of the Year. My favourite activity in my spare time is making memories with my family.
Deputy ManagerI qualified as an enrolled Nurse in 1985, after this I worked at the William Harvey Hospital in Kent. I then moved to working with severely disabled adults within Social Services. Following time out to have my family, I returned to a care home environment and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1993. I then furthered my role working as a Senior Nurse and was instrumental in implementing the Gold Standard Framework within the care home I was then working in. I joined Beechwood Grove in 2018 as a Registered Nurse on the Nursing unit and progressed to become Clinical Lead in 2019.
Head of HospitalityI was born and raised in Eastbourne and qualified as a Chef in 1983. I worked in hotels in and around Eastbourne and progressed to Head Chef at the Afton Hotel in 1987. After a brief move to the Isle of Wight where I was the Head Chef in one of the largest hotels on the island, I returned to Eastbourne and after working in various hotels, pubs, and restaurants I joined Beechwood Grove as Head Chef in July 2019. In May 2022, I was promoted to Head of Hospitality and oversee the kitchen, Lifestyles, and the newly appointed Hospitality Assistants. I have 4 children, all girls, and 4 grandchildren and I am an avid Arsenal fan!
Client Relations AssistantBefore I joined Beechwood Grove, I had a range of roles, including driving double-deckers and bendy buses around Eastbourne and Brighton. I recently worked in the retirement sector as a property manager; the opportunity came to join the team at Beechwood Grove. In my spare time, I am a volunteer team leader for the local homeless charity, providing outreach sessions on the seafront in Eastbourne. My role involves showcasing our beautiful home to potential new residents and their families, guiding them through their journey to join Beechwood Grove. I also work closely with the Head of Hospitality, showcasing events at Beechwood Grove on social media and being the editor of the internal newsletter, the Beechwood Bugle.
“The environment is homely and caring and the accommodation is excellent. All the staff-the carers, admin, housekeeping and catering are warm, caring and professional. I cannot fault any aspect of the accommodation or care.”
“I am happy that my beloved sister is in the care of Beechwood Grove. I am assured that only the best in standards are upheld and that they are always seeking ways to stimulate and interact with their residents and that I am consulted and kept informed on the programme of care they put into place.”
“My Husband became a resident to Beechwood Grove in January 2021. We were both very nervous as to how it would all turn out. I need not have worried. My husband enjoyed his first day’s stay and has enjoyed every day since then. I feel relaxed that I don’t need to worry about him getting all he needs.”
“A beautiful place in a lovely setting. The staff are outstanding! So caring and helpful. We feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful home for our aunt.”
“The quality of the staff was the key to the first-class care given to my brother. It began at the entrance with the reception and then continued throughout the system to the delivery of expert and compassionate care of my brother. We could not have been more satisfied. Thank you all.”
“Beechwood Grove has a warm and welcoming feel. The purpose-built building allows the residents to move around freely both inside and out. The bedrooms offer space and privacy. Lovely outside gardens to communal areas inside to sit and enjoy. Lots of great activities during the day. I would like to thank all the lovely staff for looking after my Mum.”
“Beechwood Grove has offered our family a lifeline in knowing that our mother is valued and cared for as an individual. We feel safe in the knowledge that her best interests are always at the heart of those who are caring for her and that she is enjoying herself. All the staff we have spoken to/dealt with have been both reassuring, kind and helpful.”
“My Mum has been a resident suffering from dementia……The facilities and activities at Beechwood Grove are excellent. The resident’s rooms and communal areas are very well presented. This is a modern, purpose-built care home, designed to give the best experience for residents and family alike. Our experience with the staff has been superb.”
“My mother has been a resident at Beechwood Grove for 2 years. They have always been very welcoming and acted in her best interests. Throughout lockdown when I was unable to visit her, it was a comfort to know that she was safe and well cared for and I didn’t need to worry about her wellbeing.”
“Wonderful staff, who show genuine care and interest in residents. Lovely location and beautifully presented. Fantastic to have the garden accessible for all.”
