Woodland Grove Care Home Celebrates The Continent of Africa
Woodland Grove Celebrates the Continent of Africa
Our Woodland Grove Care Home residents celebrated the continent of Africa. It was a fantastic week full of craft activities and cultural experiences.
The lifestyles team did an exceptional job of organising different activities, including drawing tribe masks, painting African-style flower pots, and making jewellery by using unique wooden beads!
The team also held a fun quiz to test residents on African geography by asking general knowledge questions from Trivia. It was interesting to learn new facts and share stories from residents.
All the team members from this lovely continent participated in our celebration and shared their culture with everyone. Our Senior Carer, Gloria, from Nigeria, cooked Jollof chicken rice for all the team members and some traditional snacks for our residents. The kitchen team members also shared their culture and cooked some traditional food from Angola.
To add to the authenticity of the day, there were special guests for the day, our Carer Lamin and his friend from Gambia. They entertained the residents and taught everyone how to play African music with drums.
It was an exceptional day filled with cultural experiences that our residents will always remember!
