Silver Sunday Celebrations at Oakland Care
Silver Sunday Celebration to Remember!
Our care homes had a great time celebrating Silver Sunday!
Silver Sunday was initially launched as a local campaign to tackle loneliness and isolation. Silver Sunday is now a national day where people of all generations can come together by hosting fun and free activities for older people. It is a day when older people can meet new people, visit new places, try new activities and connect with their local communities and the generations around them.
Our Beechwood Grove Care Home residents decided they wanted to give back to their local Homeless charity, Warming up the homeless. The residents set to work packing and wrapping toiletry gift boxes. Each gift box contained a toothbrush, toothpaste, tissues, shower gel and deodorant. Driver Chris collected these items and will be dispatched to the homeless community at one of the local outreach sessions.
Elsyng House Care Home celebrated by holding a special afternoon tea for residents and their families to have an enjoyable time together.
Our Lambwood Heights Care Home celebrated by giving every resident a silver heart balloon and a handmade card from the lifestyles team. The grandchildren weren’t forgotten – they also received goodie bags on arrival. The catering team also provided delicious cakes and sweet treats for everyone.
We’re already looking forward to Silver Sunday 2023!
