Beechwood’s Got Talent
Residents at Beechwood Grove host virtual talent show
Residents at our Beechwood Grove Care Home in Eastbourne took part in a virtual talent show “Beechwood’s Got Talent” thanks to Skype.
Before the lockdown began residents from different floors would regularly meet each other for happy hour. Now the home is coming up with unique ways to make sure residents are being stimulated and can still see each other.
Show us what you’ve got
The team came up with the idea of hosting a virtual talent show over Skype that would allow residents to see each other across floors, as well discover any hidden talents they may have. The talent show took place over three floors and saw a variety of performances from residents including poetry, French storytelling, card tricks, singing and much more. Staff also joined in to showcase their unique talents and some of the team even dressed up as their favourite movie characters.
Live streaming commenced in the afternoon so everyone could see each other at the same time. Judging took place from the cinema room and the winners from each floor were announced.
Lifestyles Manager at Beechwood Grove, Cath Adams said: “Residents were missing having their usual chats and meeting up in the garden so this was a great way for them to catch-up with each other and also have some fun at the same time.
“The feedback from the residents was really positive as everyone got a chance to participate and display their talents. One resident said, “Fabulous afternoon, we would like to do more maybe bingo or a quiz.”
The Winners
Ash Floor winner Joan showcased her poetry to her fellow competitors.
Birch Floor winner Daisy wooed the audience with her rendition of Daisy Daisy.
Cedar Floor winner Rosa took the crown for her Welsh singing.
