Woodland Grove Head Chef named winner of the nutritious & delicious chef competition
The Important Role of a Care Home Chef
Well done to Nina Nikolova, Head Chef at our Woodland Grove Care home for winning Trusted Care’s Nutritious and Delicious competition in support of Nutrition and Hydration week 2022. Nina has been named a Champion alongside Head Chefs from other Care Homes.
Nutrition and Hydration Week’s aim is to help people understand the importance of nutrition and hydration in health and social care.
For our residents, good nutrition and hydration are key ingredients to remaining well and healthy. We know our care home Chefs hold this important role and they ensure our residents receive nutritious and delicious meals three times a day.
Head Chef, Nina started working at Woodland Grove in July 2016. Nina mentioned, “The thought of taking care of the elderly and the passion for food encouraged me to start working in a care home”.
Her belief is for every resident to have the right to choose. “The communication between the residents and my team is extremely important, that way we understand their demands. That is why every week I offer a new menu, in which I include a new meal which is by the wishes of our residents. In the future, my main aim is to find the balance between the resident’s wishes and the new ingredients and flavour combinations!”
Nina’s hobby is dancing, but the thing she most loves is spending time with her husband and two boys, where they organise little trips at different weekends.
