Our Top 5 Days Out This Summer
Our Residents Top 5 Days Out This Summer
Although it hasn’t been the warmest of summers so far, our Care Homes haven’t let the weather dampen their enthusiasm for creating fun and engaging activities for our residents and it certainly hasn’t stopped them getting out and about in the local area.
Here are our top 5 days out of Summer 2023 (so far!):
Woodland Grove – Lee Valley Park
Our Woodland Grove residents had a fantastic time on their enriching trip to Lee Valley Park Wildlife Discovery Centre. They learnt about wildlife and different habitats and species. They also enjoyed some stunning views of Seventy Acres Lake.
The residents also got to practice their bird-watching skills with the help of two knowledgeable volunteers who were happy to answer their questions about the nature reserve and the various bird species they spotted. It was a memorable day enjoyed by all!
Lambwood Heights – Get To Know Animals Zoo
Our Lambwood Heights care home residents enjoyed a special outing to ‘Get to Know Animals’ Zoo. This fascinating venue is a fully interactive mini zoo and animal experience centre in Epping, Essex. As well as being a zoo, they also accommodate educational visits and provide animal therapy to care homes, hospices and hospitals, which is really special!
The residents enjoyed seeing all the exotic creatures, holding them and seeing many different species up close! It was a fun day for all.
Birchwood Heights – Visit Laredo Western Town
Our Birchwood Heights residents had a great day out visiting Laredo Western Town, an American Wild West town in the middle of the Kent countryside.
The residents enjoyed walking around the town and were in awe of how authentic it was, making them feel like they had stepped back in time.
Hastings Court – Brooklands Museum
Our Hastings Court team made some of our residents’ dreams a reality by travelling to Brooklands Museum, the birthplace of British Motorsport in Weybridge, Surrey.
Our residents were overjoyed and happy to experience all the rich history the museum has on display. It was a great day out for residents and the team!
Woodland Grove – CanalAbility
Our Lifestyles team arranged a fantastic canal boat trip for our Woodland Grove care home residents with CanalAbility an award-winning charity dedicated to providing specially adapted canal boats. The residents and family members had a great time together, and what was even more special was they had the chance to steer the boat and open the locks! They also received a certificate of completion at the end!!
Thank you CanalAbility and the crew, for giving our residents a memorable experience.
Not only did our residents enjoy these fabulous venues, but they have also enjoyed trips to the local cinema and bowling alley, and visits from lots of exciting people too, such as a Moroccan belly dancer, local secondary school students, many animal visitors and a fabulous performance by The Dot Collective.
