Responsible Procurement

Sustainability Oakland Care

We have a responsibility to source, use and dispose of products and waste sustainably.

Oakland Care understands that how we source our supplies and dispose of our waste can have a huge impact on communities and the environment. Therefore, we have a responsibility to source, use and dispose of supplies sustainably. We take every opportunity to review our products and move to more sustainable alternatives.

We have implemented high sustainability requirements through our tendering processes with suppliers to ensure that the supplies we procure are produced and delivered with a lower level of environmental impact.

We closely monitor our waste volumes and destinations across all waste streams, to ensure we are continually improving our recycling rate and maintaining our practice of zero waste to landfill.

We have already achieved the Level 3 ‘Greenmark’ accreditation, which demonstrates our focus on sustainability throughout all operational areas of our business.

Working with suppliers

We are actively working with our suppliers to identify more sustainable alternative materials and opportunities to reduce their use. For example, our cleaning products which have zero harmful properties and have reduced plastic waste by 90%.

All of our food waste is recycled and we have invested in new pioneering technology that reduces the size of clinical waste by half.
