Our commitment

Leadership and Culture

Doing the right thing for the environment is a key priority at Oakland Care. Our strategy is led by our CEO and Sustainability Committee and is made up of leaders and team members from across the company. Our sustainability strategy and progress against this are reported and discussed on a monthly basis by the leadership team and Oakland Care board.

Our Sustainability Committee is working to ensure the right practices are in place and sustainability is at the forefront of all the conversations we have with our residents, professionals, suppliers and colleagues.

Employee Engagement

Our people are passionate about the environment and sustainability. We have developed training and engagement programmes to help empower them to play their part in delivering against our environmental focus areas. We provide all team members with sustainability training, which is fully embedded into our in-person induction process. We invest in specialist training to ensure expertise across the business.

Sustainable Construction & Growth

From 2022, each new build has been certified upon completion by BREEAM as excellent or above. BREEAM is an internationally recognised certification that assesses the building’s specification, design, construction, and use for its environmental impact across 51 criteria. All existing care homes have also now been assessed and/or certified.

Our sustainability strategy

Oakland Care is a growing care provider with a pipeline of new care homes planned in coming years. Each of our new builds is carefully designed on an individual basis to ensure that it takes advantage of new opportunities to reduce its impact on the environment.
