    Woodland Grove

    General Manager

I am a qualified Biomedical Scientist and specialised in Blood Transfusion. I worked for the NHS before I decided to join the Health and Social Care sector in 2012. My first role was at a small residential care setting for the elderly. I joined as a Deputy Manager and progressed to a Registered Manager role. Since then, I have been in various management roles within the sector. I joined Oakland Care in 2020 as a Unit Manager. I then progressed to the Head of Memory and Residential Care Role before moving into the Deputy Manager Role and now General Manager. I have a passion for providing exceptional care and developing a team that goes over and beyond in the care they provide.

    Deputy Manager

I have an academic background in Literature and Journalism. However, driven by the desire to be part of a meaningful change, in 2019, I decided to transition into the Social and Healthcare sector. This is when I joined Oakland Care as a Healthcare Assistant, and I have since advanced through various roles, progressively working my way up to my current position as Deputy Manager. My journey has given me a deep understanding of both the personal and professional aspects of care. As a Deputy Manager, I aim to ensure that our residents receive exceptional care and that my team is led with inspiration, compassion, and integrity. I recently earned a qualification in therapeutic counselling and am interested in all things philosophy and psychology.

“Delicious – loved it!”

Sue

“Thank you for the red salmon – it was delicious.”

Resident

“Warm Croissants and stewed plus was nice.”

Ted

“The care my mother, who suffers from vascular dementia, received during the time she was at Woodland Grove was excellent. Woodland Grove is full of light and laughter and the staff have the best interests of the residents at their heart.”

Daughter of Resident

” My experience at Woodland Grove has been excellent all-round. My mother has been in a week to give me some respite, and it has worked out extremely well, and we will probably do it again in the future..”

Daughter of Resident

“My mum has been a resident at Woodland Grove for several years now, having moved from a different care home, and quite honestly, I could not imagine her being in better care. The home and its staff are outstanding. From the day my family and I first visited the site, to the day Mum moved in and every day since, they have exceeded everything I thought a care home could be, by far. I’m usually quite reserved, but it would be a disservice not to give them full marks across the board. Not only do I thank them for caring for my mum, and giving her and the other residents a real home, amazing food and a calendar full of activities and events, but for what they’ve done for my dad and all my family as well.”

Son of Resident

“Mum has settled into Woodland Grove and considers it her home. The carers on Snowdrop are always attentive, respectful and openly loving towards her. The lifestyle team are the heart and soul of Woodland and ensure Mum is never lonely or bored. The activities are interesting, inventive and varied. Mum loves having her hair and nails done weekly; she feels valued. Whenever I visit, it is a warm and welcoming place.  I feel happy Mum is living in a safe and kind home.”

Daughter of Resident

“From day one, every member of staff that I have come into contact with have always been very welcoming and helpful. The team of staff on the Primrose floor have been extremely helpful and patient with my numerous questions. I feel happy and confident that when I leave my brother I will be contacted should they have any concerns which is very reassuring. The care and support my brother receives is first class, he has settled in extremely well in a very short time. He seems a lot happier in himself and very comfortable in his new surroundings. I would highly recommend Woodland Grove.”

Sister of resident

“I would not be happy for my mother to be in any other care home. Snowdrop is wonderful, together with the staff. We researched care homes over 2 years and used this one as our benchmark. The diversity of staff is so important for her where she has a mixture of carers. Her hair is plaited and washed regularly. We love that she has this care. The carers are absolute angels who really do care for her. She is so happy there where she is allowed to roam Snowdrop ward, talk to other residents and eat with them. She does not feel isolated in any way. The staff are amazing.”

Daughter of Resident

“Best move I ever made was to get my aunt here. The staff are welcoming and extremely helpful, they listened to my concerns and have been amazing. My aunt loves it here and I’ve heard nothing negative from her which is a joy to my ears! Woodland Grove, you are amazing.”

Niece of Resident

“The home is more like a 5-star hotel with care rather than a traditional care home. Every room is spotlessly clean and the staff are very patient, caring and accommodating and nothing is too much trouble for them. There are activities for the residents every day and Mum can just sit and watch if she doesn’t feel that she wants to participate. She is not forced to do anything and can sit in any of the lovely lounges. She has made friends and seems very happy and settled. I am happy with Woodland Grove because my Mum is happy and that takes the pressure off me by knowing she is being cared for in a dignified and well-run environment.”

Daughter of Resident

“The staff at Woodland Grove make a real effort to give the residents a good range of activities to interest all and lift spirits. The atmosphere is happy and welcoming. There are always beautiful flowers around and often lifting music playing in the corridors. My mother has been very happy there for over three years now and would be very sad to be moved anywhere else.”

Daughter of Resident

“All the food is spectacular”

Mary (Resident)

“They have taken Mum out on a trip and there is lots of entertainment during the day keeping her busy.”

Daughter of resident

“I love the porridge here.”
