On World Mental Health Day, our Lambwood Heights hosted a cultural event to celebrate their staff’s traditions, diversity, and unique ethnicity. This event reflects our ongoing commitment to valuing each individual’s well-being and ensuring that everyone feels seen and appreciated in our community. Team members donned traditional outfits, shared their favourite dishes, and discussed their home traditions, creating an engaging and inclusive environment.
At Elsyng House, World Mental Health Day was observed with a dedicated focus on raising awareness about mental health. The day featured activities aimed at promoting mental well-being, including one-on-one conversations, well-being exercises, interactive games, and an energising Zumba session. These initiatives were designed to create a supportive environment and encourage open conversations about mental health, encouraging a sense of community and positivity.
Beechwood Grove also joined the cause by raising awareness through various activities. The infamous ‘Beechwood Grove Sweet Trolly’ made a return with an extra treat—a special goodie bag created by well-being champion Mo. The goodie bag contained items such as a fidget keyring to relieve anxiety, a motivational quote keyring, and love heart sweets.
Additionally, A Touch Of Gentleness provided hand massages to all staff and residents, offering a moment of relaxation and stress relief.
The Woodland Grove Care Home’s Lifestyles Team arranged an immersive virtual reality experience for residents, family members, and team members. Participants were taken on a virtual journey to Bali, Canada, Italy, the Caribbean, and the Uganda Safari, using VR technology masks. The experience brought genuine happiness to everyone, uplifting their spirits and providing a moment of escape and joy.
At Birchwood Heights, well-being champions Theresa Doody and Lou Arnold prepared a special well-being hamper for the team members for Mental Health Awareness Day. The hamper included shower steams, eye and foot masks, sweet treats, and chocolates, with the aim of encouraging the amazing staff to take care of themselves and prioritise their well-being.
At Hyllden Heights, champions Jane Higgs and Terry Desmond organised various activities throughout the day to highlight World Mental Health Day, particularly for team members. These included wearing green ribbons, signposting, and sharing gifts with team members, creating an environment of support and awareness around mental health.
These World Mental Health Day activities showcased our care homes’ dedication and commitment to promoting mental well-being and creating a supportive and inclusive environment for our team members and residents. The genuine impact of these activities and the dedication of our team members in creating a supportive and uplifting environment for our team members, residents and community was commendable.
