The Great Oakland Care Christmas Bake Off 2025
A huge thank you to all our talented chefs at Oakland Care who took part in this year’s Great Oakland Care Christmas Bake Off! The entries were nothing short of spectacular, and the competition was incredibly close.
And the Winner Is…
A massive congratulations to Birchwood Heights! Their show-stopping creation, the Birchwood Christmas Log, truly captured the spirit of the season. This masterpiece featured two stunning logs, including a Cherry-filled Black Forest tree stump and a Butterscotch and fudge-coated roll.
Both were finished with a white and dark chocolate “bark,” resembling the traditional Birch log burned on the Christmas hearth. The attention to detail was incredible with homemade chocolate cookie crumb, forest fruits, fondant penguins, and French meringue-topped vanilla toadstools. It was a team effort and a feast for the eyes of everyone!
Worthy runner-ups
- Hastings Court with a Spiced Lemon & Ginger Ale Log
Shaped like a tree stump, this beauty was filled with cherry compote and almond buttercream, topped with marzipan toadstools and chocolate chip cookie soil. The flavours were divine – so close to taking the crown!
- Elmbrook Court with an Environmentally Conscious Tree Planting Cake. This innovative creation featured nine layers of Swiss roll sponge and a real bonsai tree at its centre! Flavours of coconut, vanilla, and raspberry combined with ground pistachio moss and fondant toadstools made this a truly unique entry.
The best part of the Bake Off? Seeing our residents come together to enjoy these festive creations! From sharing slices over laughter to reminiscing about Christmas traditions, these moments remind us what Oakland Care is all about: great care, meaningful experiences, and a sense of community.
