Recently,  Maplewood Court, put their kindness into action alongside the Recruitment and Rewards Benefits Roadshow by introducing a ‘Christmas Cost of Living Crisis Stall’ for our incredible team.

The idea began when the Head of Recuritment suggested mini hand massages for staff during the roadshow. That simple thought sparked a bigger question – “how else can we support our team, especially as we approach the festive season—a time that can be financially challenging for many?”

Jo, our General Manager of Maplewood Court partnered with Inkind Direct, a charitable organisation that provides essential and gift items at reduced prices for community support. From toiletries and household essentials to John Lewis children’s onesies, duvet sets, and even LEGO, they created a free shop where tea members could pick up everyday items or Christmas gifts for their loved ones. Other items were added including drinks, chocolates, sweets, and fresh fruit platters prepared by the kitchen team to make the experience even more enjoyable at the roadshow.

The response from the team was overwhelming – team members expressed gratitude, saying they felt valued and supported in ways they never expected. Beyond the practical help, this initiative brought everyone together—connecting team members with Krystelle and Carly to learn more about employee benefits.

As today marks World Kindness Day, with the theme “Connect Beyond Differences,” we’re proud that Maplewood Court has demonstrated what kindness looks like in action. This wasn’t just about giving—it was about creating a sense of community and showing that every member of our team matters.

The success of this initiative means it won’t be a one-off. Jo said “we’re planning to make this a regular feature because kindness should never be seasonal—it should be part of who we are”. They are proud to stand by their team and make sure everyone feels supported this Christmas and beyond.
