Oakland Care support Sparkle for Social Care campaign
Oakland Care is proud to support the Care Sector Fundraising Ball Committee’s #SparkleforSocialCare campaign in aid of the Care Worker’s Charity’s (CWC) Coronavirus Emergency Fund, which aims to raise £1m pounds for Social Care Workers experiencing financial difficulties.
In the UK 1.6 million people work in Social Care, higher than the entire NHS which has 1.4 million workers. Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the Care Worker’s Charity has seen a 700% increase in the number of grant applications received. To help carers in need, the CWC Coronavirus Emergency Fund has been specifically designed to support care workers that are being put at risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
#SparkleforSocialCare Day
On Monday 13th April 2020, The Care Sector Ball Committee is asking those taking part to grab their sparkliest accessories and join them as they #SparkleforSocialCare and recognise all our amazing social care workers who continue to SPARKLE for us each and every day!
By wearing your sparkles, and donating at least £1, they aim to help to raise vital funds needed for care workers across the country, and show them how much we care.
Oakland Care CEO, Joanne Balmer said, “Our colleagues working in Care Homes are the backbone of the UK’s Health and Social Care services. We want to do everything we can to support frontline team members through these challenging times.”
“Working in Care can be a tough ask. Working in a Care Home is not an easy job, it’s hard work and emotionally demanding but the personal rewards reaped in are immeasurable.”
