Recognising Our Exceptional Nurses on International Nurses Day 2026

Today, we proudly celebrate International Nurses Day, a global moment to recognise and thank the incredible nurses who make a difference in people’s lives every single day.

At Oakland Care, our Nurses are at the heart of everything we do. Their compassion, expertise and dedication shape the experiences of our residents and their families, providing not just care, but comfort, dignity and reassurance.

International Nurses Day is observed each year on 12th May, marking the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale and serving as an opportunity to honour the nursing profession while raising awareness of the challenges nurses face worldwide.

This year’s theme, set by the International Council of Nurses, is “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” It highlights an important truth that when nurses are supported, valued and equipped with the right resources, they are able to deliver even better care and improve outcomes for those they support. Across healthcare systems globally, nurses continue to play a vital role in sustaining care, protecting communities and supporting individuals through some of the most important moments of their lives. The 2026 theme also recognises the increasing pressures they face and reinforces the need for continued investment in the profession, from safe working environments to opportunities for development and leadership.
