As we approach International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, 2025, Oakland Care proudly joins the global movement to promote gender equality under this year’s theme, Accelerate Action.

This initiative calls for urgent measures and collective efforts to address the systemic barriers that women encounter both personally and professionally.

The data from the World Economic Forum paints a concerning picture: at the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158—roughly five generations—before we see full gender parity. This stark reality emphasises the need for immediate and decisive action. The “Accelerate Action” campaign serves as a clarion call for everyone to unite and take meaningful steps toward achieving gender equality.

Joanne Balmer, our CEO of Oakland Care, shared her perspective on the significance of International Women’s Day. She remarked, “International Women’s Day is a reminder of the strength, compassion, and resilience that women bring to every role—whether it’s leading a company, caring for others, or uplifting communities. As a female CEO in the care industry, I am proud to stand with women who break barriers every day, proving that leadership and empathy are powerful together.”

At Oakland Care, we believe in the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where every individual can thrive, regardless of gender. Our support for “Accelerate Action” is a commitment to empower women and challenge the status quo, both within our organisation and the wider community.

As we commemorate this significant day, let us all come together to “Accelerate Action” and drive the momentum needed to reshape the future for gender equality. Together, we can make a difference and work toward a world where equity is a reality for all.

Join us in taking action, raising awareness, and advocating for the changes necessary to create a more just society. Let’s “Accelerate Action” and pave the way for generations to come.  Learn more here https://www.internationalwomensday.com/
