Oakland Care Homes Celebrate Successful Eco-Fair in Green Week

Oakland Care Homes recently hosted an Eco-Fair at our various locations, and the events were a resounding success. The fair, which marked the end of #Greenweek, brought together various stall holders and businesses to showcase their eco-friendly products and services.

At our Elsyng House Care Home, the day kicked off with an engaging talk by Hannah from the Bats Trust Society, who shared with the audience the importance of bats in our ecosystem. This was followed by Maria from Sparkles Face Painting, who brought joy to the residents with her magical face-painting skills. The entertainment continued with an electrifying performance by Peter Webb, an Elvis impersonator, who had everyone singing and dancing along.

To conclude the event, local businesses like Shed Loads of Crafts and Flowers set up stalls to display and sell their beautiful handmade products. The Eco-Fair provided a platform for these businesses to connect with the community and promote their eco-friendly initiatives.

At Hastings Court, they showcased their commitment to sustainability by creating and selling unique items at their eco-fair. Team Members and residents worked tirelessly to produce items such as apples grown on-site, decorative pumpkins made of recycled materials, organically grown vegetables, and hand-painted nesting boxes. The success of their Eco-fair demonstrated their dedication to making a positive impact on the environment.

In Beechwood Grove, team members and residents got busy making button jars to sell to raise vital funds for RNLI Eastbourne.  They also were busy planting spider plants, which are fantastic for cleaning the air of impurities and making bird food for the recycled bird food holder.

The Eco-fair at Woodland Grove Care Home was a great success, featuring a wide variety of homemade products created by the residents, as well as items sourced from local businesses in the community. The event showcased the dedication to sustainability and creativity within the care home and highlighted the support for local enterprises.
