Oakland Care Celebrates Greener Month 2026

This September, Oakland Care is celebrating Greener Month, a company-wide initiative that highlights the environmental actions taking place across our homes and communities.

Earlier this year, Oakland Care became the first social care provider to receive The King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainability. This prestigious recognition acknowledges our commitment to embedding sustainability throughout our organisation and reinforces our position as The Greener Care Choice.

Throughout Greener Month, residents and team members across our homes are taking part in a variety of activities designed to support the environment and local communities. Initiatives include tree planting, litter picks, beach cleans, biodiversity projects and community engagement events.

Sustainability forms an important part of how we operate, and we are proud of the progress we have already made. Some of our environmental achievements include:

• Carbon Neutral certification for the fifth consecutive year in 2026.
• Green Mark Level 3 Certification and Green Champion status.
• Care homes designed and developed with strong environmental credentials, including BREEAM accreditations of Very Good and Excellent.
• Working closely with suppliers to reduce delivery miles and environmental impact.
• Reducing plastic waste through environmentally friendly cleaning products and investing in innovative technologies that help minimise waste.

Our commitment also extends beyond our buildings and operations. Across Oakland Care, residents and teams support biodiversity initiatives including wildflower gardens and wildlife-friendly outdoor spaces that encourage nature to thrive.

Greener Month provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our residents, colleagues and partners, while highlighting the positive environmental impact being made across Oakland Care every day.
