Maplewood Court Care Home’s Rave Against the Age
If their names weren’t down, they weren’t getting in, but luckily residents at Maplewood Court care home were all on the guest list for its first rave.

The team had staff on the door to check tickets and search residents for illicit substances before they were allowed into the afternoon rave in the home’s lounge. Once they’d cleared the security staff, residents donned neon glasses, popped a glo-stick in their fruit punch and danced the afternoon away to tunes including Baby D’s Let Me Be your Fantasy and Mr Fingers’ Can you Feel It.

“It was so much fun,” said resident Pat White, 83. “I loved the dancing and it was so different to dance in the dark with all the neon.”
Family members joined their loved ones for the unique party, while the only magic mushroom was a red and white spotted hat worn by rave doorman and Lifestyles Assistant, Ashley Quinnell.
“It was clear from their dancing that some of the residents had been to raves before!” laughed Lifestyles Team Leader, Laura Taylor. “The energy was incredible, the outfits were amazing and we all came together for the most fabulous party! At Maplewood Court, we believe age is just a number and we have proved that you’re NEVER too old to rave!”
Maplewood Court is a purpose-built home that provides residential, nursing, memory and respite care in 72 private en-suite bedrooms.
The rave is the latest event organised by caring team members to bring vibrant new experiences to residents. The home’s fabulous photo shoot that saw residents posing in sky high flower studded wigs, statement sunglasses and oversized jewellery, made national news.
“The team here are amazing,” said Pat Henley, 86. “They arrange so much for us, and it’s so different. I never went to a rave, I wasn’t quite sure what one was, but after this I think I’d like to go again!”
