Hyllden Heights 76-bed Luxury Care Home Replaces Care Showroom in Hildenborough

The doors are now open to our new purpose-built care home in Hildenborough.  Hyllden Heights will provide all-inclusive residential, nursing, memory and respite care for up to 76 residents.

Built in a style sympathetic to the houses around it, the home sits on the site of the former Hildenborough Group Volvo dealership. Its décor has been inspired, in part, by the nearby Half Moon pub on Half Moon Lane.   A bespoke mural sits behind the bar featuring a moon and stars.

Hyllden Heights is the newest addition to Oakland Care’s portfolio which includes Birchwood Heights in Swanley and Maplewood Court in Maidstone.

The home will also be BREAAM certified, an internationally recognised sustainability assessment, and part of Oakland’s commitment to the environment as the UK’s only carbon neutral care home group.

A full range of care options will be available from respite care to memory care, residential to nursing care, but all will feature the ‘Namaste’ approach. “Oakland Care’s motto is ‘live, love and be loved’ and that’s very much what Namaste Care is all about,” General Manager, Karen Pain, explained.

“Our approach to care will be tailored to each individual and will focus on the senses – through the music they love, their favourite perfumes or aftershaves, physical connections like hand massages and just having some meaningful one-to-one time with staff.

“It really helps people to feel comfortable in their surroundings and with our team, and for our staff to connect with residents, too.  This will be their home and they should feel at home.”

Hyllden Heights will bring much-needed care home beds to the sector in Kent, which saw nine homes close in 2022.  It will also offer residents a café bistro, craft room, cinema room, hair and beauty salon, a private dining room, lounges and garden areas.

Initially, 30 new jobs will be created, reaching up to 100 when the home is fully occupied.  Hyllden Heights will also support apprenticeships and work placements.

“We already feel part of the community,” added Karen, “and I’m very much looking forward to welcoming our first residents who will move in during April.”
