Housekeeper Spotlight: Jacki Ward, Housekeeper at Hastings Court

In our ongoing series highlighting the incredible team members at our care homes, we are excited to shine the spotlight on Jacki Ward, a dedicated housekeeper at Hastings Court. With a passion for cleanliness and a commitment to her role, Jacki’s contributions are invaluable to our home community.

Jacki joined Hastings Court before it became part of the Oakland Care family. Before starting her career in housekeeping, she focused on raising her children. Though she found herself unemployed during that time, she always maintained her skills by cleaning within care home settings. This experience laid a strong foundation for her future role as a housekeeper, allowing Jacki to combine her love for cleaning with her desire to care for others.

When asked why she chose to become a housekeeper in the care industry, Jacki simply stated, “I enjoy cleaning.” This joy not only reflects her dedication but also her understanding of how important a clean environment is for the well-being of residents.

Jacki’s most memorable experience in life is the birth of her first child, a moment that filled her with unconditional love and joy. Her role as a mother and grandmother stands out as her greatest achievement, showing her commitment to family and nurturing.

Outside of work, Jacki enjoys spending time with her dog and family, as well as indulging in her love for films. A nature enthusiast at heart, her favourite colour is green, symbolising growth and harmony.

Jacki has some fun quirks that reflect her personality. Her favourite biscuit is the classic Fruit Shortcake and her all-time favourite film is “Midnight Express.” She’s not a fan of pineapple on pizza and would choose to be a gorilla, symbolising strength and family values. A nature enthusiast, her favourite colour is green, showcasing her lively character beyond her essential role at Hastings Court.

Looking ahead, Jacki has exciting plans for the next three years to save and prepare for a cruise. This dream reflects her adventurous spirit and desire to explore new horizons.
