Housekeeper Spotlight: Branden Baker, Housekeeping Team Leader at Osbern Manor Care Home

In this edition of our Housekeeper Spotlight series, we would like to introduce Brandon Baker, a dedicated Housekeeping Team Leader at Osbern Manor. With a passion for cleanliness and a heart for care, Brandon embodies the spirit of excellence within our team.

Before joining Oakland Care, Brandon worked as a holiday representative, where he enjoyed the sun and meeting new people. However, he felt that this path wasn’t his true calling. Transitioning to the care industry, he has spent the last 4-5 years making a positive impact.

Brandon became a housekeeper not only because he loves to maintain tidy spaces but also because he finds joy in witnessing the results of his hard work. His belief in karma drives his desire to give back through caring for others, as he hopes to receive care in return one day. Brandon chose Oakland Care specifically for its robust training programmes and the progression opportunities it offers employees.

When asked about his most memorable experience, Brandon highlighted a trip to Florida, a place where he truly feels at home. Beyond work, he engages in hobbies like knitting, solving puzzles, and playing virtual reality games. One of his proudest achievements includes being featured in the newspaper and on the radio for his involvement with Jamie Oliver’s initiative on new school dinners, showcasing his commitment to making a difference.

If Brandon were an animal, he’d choose to be an eagle, soaring high above the rest. His favourite colour is blue, and when it comes to snacks, he has a soft spot for custard creams. As for the age-old debate about pineapple on pizza, he’s open to it but prefers his pizza without it! A film that resonates with him is “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas,” which he holds dear.

As for the future, Brandon hopes to continue growing within Oakland Care over the next three years, aspiring to climb the career ladder and further his impact in the care community.
