Green Champions Explore Sustainability in Action During Annual Field Trip to Green Farm Kent

Oakland Care’s Green Champions recently came together for their annual Green Committee Field Trip, spending an inspiring day at Green Farm Kent to learn more about sustainability, conservation and environmental stewardship.

Set amongst beautiful countryside, woodlands, and wildlife habitats, the visit gave team members from across Oakland Care a valuable opportunity to see sustainability initiatives in action and discover practical ideas to share across our homes.

Throughout the day, the group explored a range of environmental projects focused on sustainable farming practices, soil regeneration, biodiversity, wildlife habitat development, natural flood prevention and water purification. The tour showed how land can be managed responsibly to support both nature and local communities while creating a healthier, more resilient environment for future generations.

The team also visited growing areas and conservation spaces, gaining first-hand insight into how natural ecosystems can be protected and enhanced. The experience highlighted the importance of working with nature, rather than against it, when tackling environmental challenges.

Of course, the day was not all about learning. Green Champions enjoyed a delicious lunch together, followed by a team treasure hunt that encouraged collaboration, conversation and a little friendly competition.

Connie, Green Champion at Beechwood Grove, enjoyed the opportunity to learn, connect and spend time in nature. Reflecting on the day, Connie said:

The visit comes as Oakland Care launches its annual Greener Month, a month-long programme dedicated to raising awareness of environmental issues, sharing sustainable practices and encouraging positive action across our homes and local communities.
