Free Care Fee Planning Session at Hastings Court Care Home

Our Hastings Court Care Home on The Ridge, Hastings is hosting a free Care Fee Planning Session on Wednesday 3rd October at 3 pm.

We’re welcoming members of the local community to join us and guest speaker Ted Stevenson from St James’s Place Wealth Management in Westerham, Kent to find out more about how to pay for residential, nursing and dementia care and financial planning for later life.

This free event has been organised to help those who are considering long term care for themselves or a loved one to manage their finances. The event will offer information on a range of issues including the six ways to fund care, benefits and allowances and the importance of organising wills and Powers of Attorney.

Our Hastings Court home manager, Georgina Gamble said: “For many families, the whole issue of care and how to pay for it is a minefield so being well-prepared can take away a lot of the worry”.

“Fees depend on what sort of care you need. Dementia care and nursing care are more expensive than residential because of the level of support involved, and the more qualified staff a home needs to employ.

“However, if you have a significant health problem the NHS may contribute to the costs of your care or cover them in full.

“The questions we get asked most often are what happens when a person’s assets and savings run out, what help is available from the local authority and does
moving into care affects claims for attendance allowance.

“This is why we wanted to organise this session, so people can get all of these questions – and more – answered by an expert.”

Advice at the event will come from Ted Stevenson from St James’s Place Wealth Management in Westerham, Kent, who is an accredited member of SOLLA (Society of Later Life Advisors).  With the government’s anticipated green paper on care and support for older people expected this autumn, Mr Stevenson will also discuss the future of social care.

The event is free and takes place at 3.00pm on Wednesday 3rd October and refreshments will be provided.  Contact reception at reception.hc@oaklandcare.com for more details or to book your place.
