Elmbrook Court Care Home Official VIP Opening Event
Formula 1 car wows residents at the official opening of our Elmbrook Court care home
Residents at Elmbrook Court Care Home in Wantage were treated to a close-up look at a Williams Formula 1 car at celebrations to mark the home’s official opening.
Families and special guests were also treated to entertainment from Wantage Silver Band and the Hendred Ukulele Group.

The opening ceremony was performed by Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Colonel (Retired) Neil Sutherland OBE DL who cut a ceremonial ribbon to officially open the home with Oakland Care CEO, Joanne Balmer, and residents.
Bashir Jamal, Interim Care Home Manager from Elmbrook Court said it was an important event for the home’s community. “We are delighted to formally open the home and we are hugely grateful to Neil for joining us on this special day”.
“We’ve only been open a matter of weeks but already we are an established part of the community and it was wonderful to welcome so many members into our grounds”.
“We look forward to more local people making Elmbrook Court their home.”
Elmbrook Court welcomed its first residents in May and now has more than 17 residents living at the purpose-built site.
The event was organised with full COVID-safety measures in place for the 76 guests which included the Mayor of Wantage, Councillor Major Jim Sibbald.
Guests, who had a confirmed negative lateral flow test, were treated to a sit-down lunch in a marquee in the gardens of the home. Among them were many local groups and community representatives.
The opening event also gave guests an opportunity to tour the stunning new care home, located in the small market town of Wantage, in the Vale of the White Horse – Oxfordshire.
The purpose-built luxury care home provides the highest quality bespoke residential, nursing, memory and respite care for up to 74 residents. State-of-the-art facilities include a café bistro, cinema room, hair and nail salon, activities room, private dining room and multiple air-conditioned lounges, some with balconies that overlook the landscaped courtyard garden areas.

Speaking about Elmbrook Care Home, Cllr Jenny Hannaby – Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Oxfordshire County Council commented, “Elmbrook is a lovely home, and I can see how well the staff look after the residents. I enjoyed the opening ceremony, tour of the home, and meeting you all. Elmbrook Court will be I am sure a great asset to the area”.
