Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends is the biggest ever initiative to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about dementia. Public understanding of dementia is very poor, often leaving those with dementia misunderstood, marginalised and isolated. We urgently need to create a climate of kindness and understanding, so that everyone affected by dementia feels part of, not apart from, society.
Becoming a Dementia Friend simply means finding out more about how dementia affects a person – and then, armed with this understanding, doing small everyday things that help. For example, being patient in a shop queue, or spending time with someone you know who is living with dementia.
Those who attend this free session will leave with the skills and awareness to be a Dementia Friend at work and within the community, and help change the perception of dementia in our society.
If you have any questions or would like to attend, please contact Rebecca on [email protected].
