Chef Spotlight Series: Andre Mata, Head Chef at Woodland Grove

Meet Andre Mata our latest instalment of the Chef Spotlight Series, from our WoodlandGrove Care Home. With a rich background in the culinary arts, Andre brings passion and dedication to his role in the care industry.

Before joining Oakland Care, Andre honed his skills as a Head Chef in a busy restaurant environment. This experience laid the foundation for his culinary journey and helped him develop a deep appreciation for quality food and innovative cooking techniques.

For Andre, becoming a chef was about embracing a new challenge and learning. His decision to transition into the care industry stems from a desire to positively impact people’s lives through food and nutrition, creating meals that are enjoyable and nourishing.

Joining Oakland Care presented Andre with a new opportunity to utilise his culinary talents meaningfully, contributing to the well-being and happiness of residents at Woodland Grove.

For Andre, nothing holds more value than family. Cherishing time spent with loved ones is a cornerstone of his life. Besides his culinary pursuits, Andre enjoys spending time with his family and playing football. These activities offer him balance and joy away from the kitchen.

Andre proudly considers raising his family among his most significant achievements, emphasising the importance of family in his life.

Here are some fun facts about Andre: if he had to choose to be an animal, he said he would be a dog because it symbolises loyalty and companionship. His favourite is green, representing growth and harmony. -His favourite biscuit is Oreo – a classic favourite! – The Pineapple on a pizza or not debate between our head chef, Andre, said a loud Not! He prefers to keep it traditional! Andre’s favourite film is Ghost.

Over the next 3 years, Andre aims to complete his university studies and further enhance his expertise in the culinary field.
