This year, the Mental Health Awareness Week theme is ‘community ‘, and at our care homes, we recognise the significance of this theme, as being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our team members and residents’ mental health and wellbeing.

Strong connections with each other help us thrive, providing a sense of belonging, safety, and support during hard times.

This week, our dedicated wellbeing champions are hosting various team activities to nurture community spirit and uplift everyone’s spirits.

At Birchwood Heights, they kicked off the week with delicious smoothies and milkshakes to add a refreshing touch. One of the highlights is the gratitude tree, which encourages everyone to share and express gratitude. To finish off the week on a high note, they have served Taco and Fajita lunches, showcasing the hard work of our kitchen team, who prepared these delicious meals amidst a bustling environment.

Elmbrook Court is recognising a sense of gratitude with a dedicated gratitude box for residents and team members to share what they are thankful for. Additionally, we are hosting drop-in sessions and sharing Wellbeing Wisdom from residents. A relaxing mindfulness space has been created for everyone to unwind, encouraging everyone to wear green in support of Mental Health Awareness.

At Maplewood Court, the excitement includes a bouncy castle, complemented by a day devoted to wearing green. In a unique initiative, they distribute adorable crochet animals, each with an encouragement card, packaged in green gift pouches with positivity wristbands and branded pens featuring a QR code for better community interaction. Everyone is also invited to take pictures with the crochet animals and share them on the home’s Facebook page, spreading positivity and love within the local community.

Osbern Manor is brightening their staff’s day with a delightful treat trolley filled with cakes and fruits, ensuring everyone gets a little extra cheer during the week.

Hyllden Heights is full of fun activities! They are hosting a guessing game featuring baby photos and have set up a mindfulness/relaxation zone for team members during breaks. Wellbeing information will provide valuable resources, including leaflets and details about local support services like churches and food banks. Team members can also indulge in refreshing mocktails, and we look forward to a wacky clothes day.

Finally, Woodland Grove is treating their team members to delicious cupcakes as a sweet gesture of appreciation, contributing to the overall uplifting atmosphere of the week.

Throughout Mental Health Awareness Week, we celebrate community and promote wellbeing among our team members and residents. Engaging in these activities not only boosts morale but also reinforces the connections that are essential for mental health. Join us in recognising the power of community and spreading positivity this week!
