Our residents from Elmbrook Court Care Home had the ‘best night they can remember’, cheering on care assistant, Nappo, as he took part in a charity boxing match.

The 30-year-old, whose full name is Florindo Dos Santos, works at Elmbrook Court, was victorious in his three-round bout at the Ultra White Collar Boxing tournament in Banbury. Residents Donald Lacey and Pamela Boot, both 92, were able to enjoy the fight thanks to the team.
“The atmosphere was amazing!” she said. “I haven’t been out in the evening for so long, and being able to go and support Nappo and see him win was wonderful. It’s the best night I can remember, and I am so proud of Nappo.”

Nappo had been inspired by caring for his dad at home, and the residents at Elmbrook Court, to take on the challenge and raise hundreds of pounds for charities close to his heart. Experienced in boxing and kung-fu, Nappo was too much for his opponent, who admitted defeat in the third round.
“I want to say thank you to Pamela and Donald, for their incredible support,” he said. “A special thanks as well to my colleagues Ash, Jenni and Katie, for cheering me on. Their encouragement made a huge difference in my performance”.
Deputy Manager, Aislinn Mullee, said it was very important for Donald and Pamela to be able to watch Nappo fight.
“They are both really close to Nappo, and they very much wanted to be there to cheer him on. They’d never been to a live boxing match before. We are so proud of Nappo, he did this for such great causes, and being able to be there with the residents to cheer him on just shows how our Oakland Care value of ‘family’ really is embedded in all of us. Nappo is our champ!”

Nappo has so far raised more than £200 for Cancer Research, The British Heart Foundation and the Mental Health Foundation.
