Beechwood Grove Easter Fun
Beechwood Grove Care Home residents enjoy Easter Festivities
Beechwood Grove Care Home residents celebrated Easter by taking part in a variety of Easter activities. Residents took part in an Easter themed arts and crafts session and welcomed new guests into the home.
Arts and Crafts Session
Residents took part in an arts and crafts session where the chosen theme was Easter bunny or springtime. Everyone enjoyed decorating and painting the Easter eggs and sharing childhood stories.
The activity was fun and relaxing for residents as they got to express their creativity and show off their painting skills. One of the residents said, “We loved coming up with different designs for Easter, it is my favourite time of the year!”
Client Relations Manager Sharon Ward said, “It’s great to see residents and staff enjoying their Easter Weekend. Residents painted some bright designs and it was lovely to see everyone unwind and enjoy themselves.
“At Beechwood Grove our Lifestyles team ensure there is at least one arts and crafts session each week. The sessions serve as a creative expression of thoughts and feelings in a relaxing environment.”
Welcoming new guests for Easter
In the lead up to Easter residents welcomed ducklings from the local farm which they loved watching hatch from eggs and grow over time.
All of the residents were incredibly excited as they waited for the delivery of the eggs and were thrilled to be given the chance to experience nature so closely.
One of the residents said, “The ducklings are very soft and lively, they made me smile a lot.”
Sharon said, “It’s been wonderful having the ducklings stay with us and they have definitely spread a lot of happiness and excitement for Spring.
“This was a great opportunity which has brought joy not only to residents but also to staff. A highlight would be when residents enjoyed watching the ducklings learn how to swim.”
As well as providing ample learning opportunities, the arrival of the ducklings gave residents the chance to experience the benefits of animal therapy. Caring for the new guests also unleashed nurturing qualities and provided a sense of purpose along with sensory stimulation and relaxation for residents.
Sharon continued, “We love spreading joy amongst our residents! We pride ourselves on creating meaningful and fun experiences and we can’t wait to welcome in some new guests in the home soon!”
