Oakland Care Celebrates the Coronation In Style
The Coronation of King Charles III has been an exciting and memorable weekend for our residents and staff alike. All our homes have celebrated the occasion in different ways and with a variety of exciting activities.
Our CEO Attended!
One of the highlights of this special time was Our CEO, Joanne Balmer (BEM), being invited to be a guest at the King’s Coronation. The event brought together heads of state, kings, and queens from across the globe, celebrities, everyday heroes and family and friends of the King and Queen. Joanne proudly represented Oakland Care at the Coronation and we are so glad she was a part of this historic event and part of something so special!
Speaking about the event, Joanne said: “I was delighted and honoured to attend the King and Queen’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey, proudly representing each and every member of Oakland Care. I had an absolutely amazing day, it was so atmospheric. The service was so well executed, with amazing music and singing throughout too.”
Elsyng House
Our Elsyng House care home celebrated the coronation of King Charles III with a fabulous celebratory party! They enjoyed an afternoon of singing and dancing with an amazing live performance from the very talented Edmund Jeffreys. Our Elsyng House chef Diana, and the kitchen team prepared a delicious buffet for our staff and residents to enjoy too. A wonderful time was had by all.

It really was a day to remember for all the right reasons.
Birchwood Heights
Birchwood Heights celebrated the Coronation by creating some wonderful, bejewelled crowns on the run up to the big day. On the day itself, they celebrated in style with some live Jazz by regular entertainers Bryan and Jacci to start the day. The weekend was finished off perfectly with a glass of sherry and a 60’s singalong in the bistro. It truly was a wonderful weekend with lots of memories been made for residents, families, friends and staff alike.
Beechwood Grove
Beechwood Grove residents enjoyed a stunning afternoon tea celebration which included delicious coronation themed cupcakes, flags and beautiful tea cups and saucers. Catherine and Cameron were amazing lifestyles team ‘members in waiting’, making sure the programme of events went without a hitch. The catering team prepared a wonderful spread and Spencer prepared a special afternoon tea for those on IDDSI diets so that everyone got to enjoy and be part of such a momentous and once in a lifetime occasion.
