Oakland Care Celebrates the Coronation In Style
The Coronation of King Charles III has been an exciting and memorable weekend for our residents and staff alike. All our homes have celebrated the occasion in different ways and with a variety of exciting activities.
Our CEO Attended!
One of the highlights of this special time was Our CEO, Joanne Balmer (BEM), being invited to be a guest at the King’s Coronation. The event brought together heads of state, kings, and queens from across the globe, celebrities, everyday heroes and family and friends of the King and Queen. Joanne proudly represented Oakland Care at the Coronation and we are so glad she was a part of this historic event and part of something so special!
Speaking about the event, Joanne said: “I was delighted and honoured to attend the King and Queen’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey, proudly representing each and every member of Oakland Care. I had an absolutely amazing day, it was so atmospheric. The service was so well executed, with amazing music and singing throughout too.”
Our Elsyng House care home celebrated the coronation of King Charles III with a fabulous celebratory party! They enjoyed an afternoon of singing and dancing with an amazing live performance from the very talented Edmund Jeffreys. Our Elsyng House chef Diana, and the kitchen team prepared a delicious buffet for our staff and residents to enjoy too. A wonderful time was had by all.
Our Woodland Grove care home celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III with a big tea party! They invited Dave along who sang some great songs and encouraged our residents to sing and dance. Family members were also invited to attend and share the momentous day with their loved ones. A delicious selection of food was prepared by our team. It really was a day to remember for all the right reasons.
Birchwood Heights celebrated the Coronation by creating some wonderful, bejewelled crowns on the run up to the big day. On the day itself, they celebrated in style with some live Jazz by regular entertainers Bryan and Jacci to start the day. The weekend was finished off perfectly with a glass of sherry and a 60’s singalong in the bistro. It truly was a wonderful weekend with lots of memories been made for residents, families, friends and staff alike.
Beechwood Grove residents enjoyed a stunning afternoon tea celebration which included delicious coronation themed cupcakes, flags and beautiful tea cups and saucers. Catherine and Cameron were amazing lifestyles team ‘members in waiting’, making sure the programme of events went without a hitch. The catering team prepared a wonderful spread and Spencer prepared a special afternoon tea for those on IDDSI diets so that everyone got to enjoy and be part of such a momentous and once in a lifetime occasion.
What a weekend our Lambwood Heights residents have had! There was flag waving, delicious food, dancing and singing and spending time with families and friends of course! It really was a very special occasion and one that everyone was involved in whether as a larger group in the lounges or cinema or 1:1 in their bedrooms.
Not only did our Hastings Court residents enjoy watching the Coronation celebrations on television, they also had an in house Coronation too! King John II of Hastings Court was crowed as well! The home was rife with pageantry, food, fun and entertainment and of course the special day was also celebrated with friends, family and loved ones too.
A Coronation street party, beautifully created food, singing, dancing and spending time with friends and family were the highlights of a memorable and enjoyable Coronation weekend at Maplewood Court! The home was beautifully decorated with Union Jack bunting and the residents waved flags and partied across the three day celebration!
Coronation celebrations started with a fulfilling activity which involved the creation of some fabulous embellished crowns. This was only the start of the celebrations though! The home had a visit from Wantage’s Town Crier, enjoyed Chef’s special ‘King’s Pimms’, a Coronation quiz and of course some delicious food including some tasty and delicate macarons! Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed making some precious memories with family and friends too.
